The Business

Tectonics Building Design is an award winning Design and Construct Company located in Margaret River, Western Australia. The business commenced in September 2006 as a Design and Documentation service. This included various aspects of advisory, inspection and project management.

The decision to include a complete Design and Construct service was made in late 2009, following requests from several clients who did not wish to become involved in a Tender process, yet wished to gain an accurate contract price before completing the full documentation process.

Today the business provides a complete Design & Construction service from sketch to handover. A Design & Documentation service is available for Builders, or individual clients who wish to take their project to Tender.

The Designs

The design process begins following a site inspection and preparation of client brief. The brief takes into account site aspect, soil types, terrain, local weather patterns, neighbouring influences, views, client requirements and budget. Solar passive and energy efficient principles are an important consideration throughout the design process, creating a carefully zoned, comfortable and highly functional building without the need for excessive architectural detail or expense.

Clever design allows for minimal waste during construction by adhering to standard material sizes and limitations wherever possible and practicable. The selection of materials is often influenced by the site and determined during the preliminary design stages.

Tectonics Building Design has experience in a variety of construction methods and materials. These include, but are not limited to, Brick, Timber and Steel Frame, Rammed Earth, Concrete Tilt Panel, Straw Bale and Modular Panel.
